Mumbai,, Tuesday 9 March 2010 – Kingfisher Airlines has been conferred the coveted 5-Star Airline status for the third year in a row.

This prestigious ranking awarded by Skytrax, the world’s leading, independent travel forum and air travel information organization, recognises Kingfisher Airlines’ Product and Service Quality Excellence for both, domestic and international travel in Kingfisher First and Kingfisher Class.

Commenting on the decision to confer Kingfisher Airlines with the 5-Star ranking once again, Mr. Edward Plaisted, CEO Skytrax, said: “The greatest attribute behind 5-Star status is an airline’s ability to deliver the combination of product and service. We are focused on recognising airlines whose staff deliver a true 5-Star standard of service delivery, both at the airport and onboard. The renewal of the 5-Star ranking to Kingfisher Airlines reaffirms its standing as the only airline in India – and one of only six airlines in the world – which has been awarded this status.”

5-Star ranking is the ‘ultimate’ ranking awarded to airlines achieving the highest quality performance.
5-Star status recognises airlines at the forefront of product and service delivery achievements, and setting the trend for other carriers to follow. This ranking is assessed by Skytrax after detailed product and service standards analysis for each featured airline, and is not connected in any way to customer ratings gathered on-line on the site. A 5-Star ranking recognises the highest standard of the product across different quality-assessment categories, and consistently high standards of staff-service delivery onboard and airport environment.

Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman & CEO Kingfisher Airlines, commented, “The renewal of the 5-Star rating confirms the fact that Kingfisher Airlines continues to be India’s favorite airline. Being recognized by Skytrax is an honor and we would like to thank our valued guests who chose to fly with Kingfisher Airlines! It is gratifying to see that our approach of providing our guests with a delightful and unique flying experience has been recognised.”

According to the Skytrax research summary, the young airline that has already captured the hearts of millions of Indians, as the carrier’s very ethos is all about delivering the highest standards of guest service; in other words, the summary said, “a well-balanced product is now in place for Indian domestic and international routes, and standards of service delivery are extremely well ranked”.
