Kingfisher Airlines Launches Flights From New Delhi to Hong Kong

Introduces through tagging of baggage to and from Macau

New Delhi, April 8, 2010– Kingfisher Airlines, India’s only Five Star Airline rated by Skytrax, flagged-off its inaugural flight on the New Delhi-Hong Kong route, late yesterday evening. This is the second international destination to be served by Kingfisher Airlines out of New Delhi and flights on this route will operate six times a week.


Kingfisher Airlines’ flight IT 031 will take-off from New Delhi at 11.45 pm and arrive at Hong Kong at 7.40 am, local time. From Hong Kong, flight IT 032 will leave at 6.15 pm and arrive the same day at 9.45 pm in New Delhi, local time. The flights from Delhi-Hong Kong will operate daily (except on Tuesday’s) and daily from Hong Kong-New Delhi (except Wednesday’s).


Commenting on the launch of this new international route, Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and CEO, Kingfisher Airlines Limited said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Kingfisher Airlines’ second international route out of New Delhi. The flights on the New Delhi-Hong Kong route will be operated using a brand new Airbus A330-200, widely billed as the best A330 ever built for any airline. Configured in two classes, Kingfisher First and Kingfisher Class, the spacious full-length wide-bodied twin aisle cabin of the A330-200 has gone to great lengths to make flying feel a more natural and pleasurable experience.


Sharing details about the connectivity with the vast domestic route network of Kingfisher Airlines, Mr. Manoj Chacko, Executive Vice President-Commercial, Kingfisher Airlines Limited said, “The New Delhi – Hong Kong flight offers excellent connectivity with Amritsar, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bangalore, Patna, Lucknow, Chennai, Raipur, Udaipur amongst other cities. Guests will now be able to fly in on Kingfisher Airlines from these cities and easily connect with the New Delhi-Hong Kong flight.”


“Beginning April 1, 2010, there is good news for Kingfisher Airlines’ guests travelling to Macau via Hong Kong from New Delhi and Mumbai. Kingfisher Airlines has been accorded approval to commence through tagging of baggage for guests travelling from Mumbai and Delhi and onward from Hong Kong on Turbo Jet ferries to Macau. Similarly Turbo Jet will tag Kingfisher Airlines guests’ baggage from Macau to Mumbai and Delhi. The through tagging of baggage to and from Macau will provide guests a convenient check-in experience. Guests whose bags have been through checked in will now just need to show the tags at the Ferry check-in counter at Hong Kong and the Turbo Jet staff will reconcile and load such bags directly onto the ferry”, added Mr. Chacko.


Kingfisher Airlines will also be launching flights to three more international destinations out of New Delhi and three more international destinations out of Mumbai over the coming weeks, according to the schedule indicated below:

  • New Delhi–Bangkok from April 17, 2010
  • New Delhi–Dubai and New Delhi–Kathmandu from April 24, 2010
  • Mumbai-Bangkok from April 17, 2010
  • Mumbai–Dubai and Mumbai–Kathmandu from April 24, 2010

The service on board the A330-200 in the Kingfisher First features:
