Kingfisher Airlines wins yet another international award at ITB Berlin,       

Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) confers on Kingfisher Airlines the international award for "Best New Domestic Airline for Excellent Services and Cuisine "

Berlin, March 10, 2006—Kingfisher Airlines, India`s fastest growing airline and the first Indian carrier to offer Full Service at True value, including a personal in-flight entertainment system on every seat on domestic routes, was today conferred an international award for "Best New Domestic Airline for Excellent Services and Cuisine" by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association, at ITB Berlin.

 

PATWA organizes International Awards every year at the ITB Berlin, which is the world`s biggest travel fair, attended by exhibitors from 180 countries and more than 7000 journalists. The PATWA award is given in cooperation with Messe Berlin, to recognize individuals, organizations involved in promotion of tourism from various sectors such as aviation, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, government agencies and the like.

 

The award was received by Mr. A.K. Ravi Nedungadi, President and Group CFO, The UB Group, the holding company of Kingfisher Airlines, at a glittering awards ceremony attended by luminaries from the global travel trade industry.

 

Speaking with media persons soon after the awards ceremony, a visibly elated Mr. Nedungadi commented, "This is the third international award that Kingfisher Airlines has bagged in as many months! It is gratifying to see that our approach of providing our guests with a delightful and unique flying experience has been recognized not just once, but twice and thrice over. Just a few weeks ago, Skytrax, a UK based specialist Global Air Transport Research Advisor recognized Kingfisher Airlines for developing & implementing a higher level of customer service and conferred on it the 2006 Skytrax Award for `Service Excellence for a New airline`. That award came close on the heels of the another award given to the airline by CAPA-The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation in December 2005.CAPA recognized and honored Kingfisher Airlines for its significant innovation and outstanding customer experience and voted it as the "Best New Airline of the Year 2005" in the Asia Pacific and Middle East.

 

Kingfisher Airlines currently operates more than 70 flights a day. In keeping with its growth plans, Kingfisher Airlines recently placed a fresh order for 15 additional ATR 72-500 aircraft in a deal valued at US$270 million. Kingfisher Airlines is also the first Indian carrier to have placed an order for five Airbus super jumbo A380s, five A350s and five A330s. The deliveries of A330s are expected to begin in 2007 while the A380s and A350s arrive in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
