Total orders for 50 Aircraft; Two-day span sees Kingfisher Airlines place orders worth US$1.9 billion at the Dubai Air Show 2005 Dubai,

November 21, 2005 – Kingfisher Airlines, India’s fastest growing airline and the first Indian carrier to offer Full Service at True value, including a personal in-flight entertainment system on every seat on domestic routes, today announced that it had placed an order for 30 Airbus A320 aircraft at the Dubai Air Show 2005 in a deal valued at US $1.9 billion.

The airline currently flies a fleet of seven brand new Airbus A320 aircraft with one more A320 and three A319s scheduled to join its fleet by January 2006. With this new order the total firm order for brand new aircraft with Airbus goes up to 40 A320s. Airbus said deliveries of the new aircraft ordered today will commence in 2008 and will continue up to 2010.

Kingfisher Airlines is also the first Indian carrier to have placed an order for five Airbus superjumbo A380s, five A350s and five A330s. The deliveries of A330s are expected to begin in 2007 while the A380s and A350s arrive in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

“The Airbus A320 Family plays an important role in helping us deliver a superior product, while facing up to the economic challenges of the marketplace,” says Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and Managing Director, Kingfisher Airlines. “Kingfisher Airlines has enjoyed accelerated growth since its launch in May 2005 and has earned a reputation both in the industry and amongst its guests for superior service operating a young fleet of comfortable, modern and reliable Airbus aircraft. This new order marks the next stage of the airline’s development and clearly demonstrates our commitment to the Airbus A320 Family of aircraft. The Airbus’ A320 family is widely recognised as the benchmark in the single-aisle aircraft family, and is the preferred choice of full-service carriers. It features the most modern design, the best economics, and the greatest guest-appeal”, added Dr. Mallya.

“This order from Kingfisher Airlines, an existing Airbus operator, is another milestone in the success story of the A320 family with airlines around the world. Kingfisher Airlines enjoys a reputation as one of India`s leading carriers, and is already a major operator of the Airbus single-aisle family, with seven aircraft in its fleet. Adding these thirty new Airbus A320s will help it to build on the success that it is already achieving, and we look forward to continuing to be a part of its future. Kingfisher Airlines` decision to augment its family of A320 aircraft reaffirms the aircraft`s role as benchmark in this market segment”, said Mr. Gustav Humbert, President and Chief Executive Officer, Airbus Industrie.

The new A320s will be powered by IAE V2500-A5 engines.
