Mumbai, April 24, 2009—Kingfisher Airlines, India’s market-leading airline and India’s first and only Five Star airline, rated by Skytrax, today announced that it had won two Freddie Awards for King Club, its frequent flyer programme.

King Club received an award for the Best Bonus Promotion (Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia) and another award for Best Customer Service (Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia). The Freddie Awards are widely acknowledged as the Frequent Travellers’ equivalent of the Oscar Awards. Each year, the Freddie Awards provides frequent travelers a chance to voice their opinions about their favorite frequent travel programs. The awards honor the best programs throughout the world, as decided by those who know these programs best — the frequent traveling public. Frequent guest and frequent flyer programs from around the world compete in nine Freddie Award categories, culminating in the highly coveted Program of the Year award.

This year's winners were announced at the Freddie Awards ceremony on April 23, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport. The awards were received by Ms. Anshu Sarin, General Manager, King Club and Mr. Atul Kumria, Head of Sales-North America, Kingfisher Airlines Limited.

Besides these two awards, King Club also earned a place of distinction and was voted in second place in two categories namely, Best Member Communications and Best Award Redemption. The recognition awarded to King Club was further extended with King Club scoring a third place in three more categories namely, Best Elite Level, Best Website and Program of the Year.

An elated Anshu Sarin commented, “It is an honor for King Club to have been voted as the programme with Best Customer Service and Best Bonus Promotion and it is a privilege for me to be accepting this award on behalf of Kingfisher Airlines. On this occasion of recognition of the efforts that our team has put in, I would like to reaffirm our commitment to providing our King Club members the best benefits and privileges in the coming years. The  valuable feedback and encouragement that we receive from our valued guests drives us to constantly innovate and  motivates us to constantly come up with unique reward offerings that makes King Club India’s most rewarding frequent-flyer programme. Kingfisher Airlines has always believed in blazing a trail of innovation that gives us a competitive edge in the market.  It is this philosophy that has in a short span of under four years seen a young airline like ours leapfrog to being India’s number one airline both in terms of traffic and guest preference. Awards Methodology

Frequent travelers from around the world are invited to cast a vote in the Annual Freddie Awards, which are designed to award excellence among frequent travel programs in the airline, hotel and credit card industries. Freddie voting focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined not by how many votes a program receives, but by the overall merits of each program as reflected in "Value Voting." Value Voting asks voters to assign a number between 1 and 10 for each program in addition to simply ranking programs according to the voter's preference. The program receiving the highest average Value Vote with at least 2 percent of the overall popular vote in a category wins that category. In some categories, results are so close that Value Votes have to be tallied to four decimal numbers. Freddie Award balloting is conducted entirely online at www.freddieawards.com.

About the Freddie Awards

For 20 years, frequent travelers have been asked to make their picks for the best frequent travel programs via the Freddie Awards. Voters rate hotel, airline and credit card programs in nine categories: Program of the Year, Best Award, Best Bonus Promotion, Best Affinity Credit Card, Best Member Communications, Best Award Redemption, Best Elite-Level Program, Best Customer Service and Best Web Site. Introduced by InsideFlyer magazine publisher Randy Petersen in 1988, the Freddies allow members to rank airline and hotel programs from their point of view. The awards have grown in stature and importance and are the most prestigious member-generated awards in the industry. The awards are named after the late Sir Freddie Laker (1922-2006) who attracted fame, and a knighthood in the United Kingdom, for his pioneering marketing ideas within the travel industry in the 1970s.
