Travel during Pregnancy

DOMESTIC SECTORS:

In Kingfisher Airlines, expectant mothers are permitted to fly till the 38th week of pregnancy provided they are in normal health and there are no complications and subject to the conditions in our policy as stated below. Further, we strongly advise all expectant mothers to consult their treating doctor before planning a trip.

 

DOMESTIC TRAVEL

1.   SINGLE / MULTIPLE UNCOMPLICATED PREGNANCY-

DURATION OF PREGNANCY

ACCEPTANCE FOR TRAVEL

Till end of 36 Weeks

Accepted without restrictions, no medical clearance papers required.

 

 

From 37 weeks till end of 38 weeks

Accepted as Medical case (MEDA) after approval from KFA medical department. For further details please click to: Procedure For Guests Requiring Medical Assistance: **  

A certificate required from a qualified obstetrician for fit to fly, issued not more than 07 days prior to departure.

Accompanied by a doctor with minimum MBBS qualification

 

 

Above 38 weeks

Not accepted for Travel on KFA flights

2. Single/Multiple Complicated Pregnancy –

2.   SINGLE / MULTIPLE COMPLICATED PREGNANCY-

ACCEPTANCE FOR TRAVEL

All cases of complicated / high-risk pregnancies would be permitted to fly only after getting approval from the KFA Medical Department (on case-to-case basis)


In some cases the expectant mother may have to be accompanied by at least an MBBS doctor.

Allowed for Travel only till the end of 36 weeks.

Please note : “Notwithstanding anything, Kingfisher’s acceptance of any person as a passenger in whatever state of health (including a state of pregnancy) is no admission, undertaking or acceptance of any higher duty of care than that undertaken under the carriage of contract/terms and conditions of contract”

 

Travel with Children/Infants

Neonates are not permitted to travel within the first 48 hrs of birth; however, in cases of emergency, neonates may be allowed to travel with medical clearance from neonatologist, stating that the neonate is fit to fly. Neonates should also be accompanied by a medical escort trained to handle neonatal emergencies, if any, during the flight.

Post delivery, the mother is permitted to fly along with her baby only after 7 days from the date of delivery of the baby and after providing a medical certificate stating that, both the mother and the baby are fit to fly.

In an exigency, wherein life saving treatment is mandatory for the infant, the mother may be permitted to fly with the new born provided the newborn is certified fit to fly by the concerned pediatrician and is accompanied by a doctor with at least an MBBS degree.
